Frequently asked questions about getting your marraige license in Tennessee.

• Can you get the marriage license for us?

  No. you (the couple) must obtain your own marriage license. Niether the officiant, the planner, nor anyone else can obtain the marriage license on your behalf. Both parties intending to get married need to appear in person at the appropriate government office, provide identification and other required documentation, and pay any applicable fees. The marriage license is then issued to the couple, and they are responsible for giving it to the officiant to be signed during the wedding ceremony.

• We are coming from out of state. Should we get our marriage license from our local courthouse and bring it with us?
